Abstract
The following topics: analysis of the current situation and recent developments; government objectives for energy savings; the vehicle and the driver policy and criteria for the design of roads and road networks;savings to be expected from measures of traffic operation and control and from lighting construction and maintenance;energy savings to be expected from town planning policies and modal transfer are presented here. The subjects are discussed by different authors.
