Abstract

Dealt is with four topics of urban highways:1) detailed facilities for two wheeled vehicles and pedestrians, their environmental impacts and an assessment of their safety; (2) traffic control strategies in urban areas for comprehensive traffic management and especially for prevention of congestion;communications with drivers, assistance to and monitoring of public transport, increase of safety (3) orientation in the urban street network (signs, markings and traffic signals)- systems for vehicles and pedestrians, technical and construction characteristics, visibility by day and night.Environmental problems;design of the urban bus street network.
