Abstract

This paper covers attitudes to driving and driving safely. Questions to drivers aged 17-20 related to their use of the car, overuse, enjoyment of driving, the speeds they drove at, and their perception of their own skill and safety-mindedness. A model of factors elevating crash involvement with age as a carrier for safety critical factors is presented. Ways of changing attitudes amongst young drivers are discussed.
