Abstract

The aim of the study described was to reconstruct, as comprehensively as possible, the reality of young drivers: (1) the everyday life world of young drivers and (2) the generalisable world of young drivers. For the purpose of this paper, the findings relevant to four drinking and driving themes (association, partying, monitoring drinking, and parents) are discussed. It is stressed that young people's drinking and driving is not considered to be an isolation phenomenon but rather it is an event interrelated with other lifestyle issues. A questionnaire was used to obtain the data necessary for the study.
