Abstract

The new legal design regulations for traffic signs include instructions for the application of retroreflective material. In most cases, at least class I material must be applied. The responsible road authority is then to decide upon adopting a higher quality standard, namely: class II. Based upon recently completed research, relevant choice criteria and backgrounds are discussed. The report ends up in recommendations for quality standard selection.
