Abstract
A symposium was held in Washington, July 31-August 1, 1984 on providing visibility and visual guidance to the road user. The main focus was the question on which way could be determined what road users had to perceive to participate in traffic safety and drive with due care. A plea was held for more cooperation between Europe and the USA in traffic safety research.
