This paper deals with the upgrade of the South Holland model for application on a regional scale. The model will be used for regional transport planning in this Dutch province. The paper describes the prior conditions for the development of the model, how the model meets the wishes of users and the availability of data. The headlines of the chosen approach are discussed. The estimation of the parameters and the calibration has been described in more detail. Finally, the paper deals with the relation between this project and the New Regional Model (NRM) developed by the Ministry of Transport. (A)
