Abstract

Clinical studies and experimental investigations with animals showed, that even fatal traumatic fat embolism led to no disintegration of plasma lipids in vivo. The lipase theory can no longer be maintained nor can the therapeutic consequences which are concluded from this theory. Fat embolism is the result of combined effects of different pathogenetic factors.
