Abstract

A hit-and-run case occurs only when the fugitive knows he was involved in the accident. This leads to the problem, which can only be solved by considering his entire personality, as to whether, and with what clarity of consciousness he experienced this involvement. On the other hand the established degree of consciousness can provide valuable insights into the personality of the hit-and-run offender. Flight is the result of a technical possibility and a psychic reaction to the situation brought about by the accident.
