Abstract

This article deals with the vehicle stability factors during its travel in a road bend. The conditions for stability in a turning motion will result in a limitation of the speed which in turn is determined by the friction between tyres and road, and tangential force of the vehicle mass. In particular, during transient braking of acceleration in a road bend, the vehicle stability factor changes considerably caused by the large absolute values of tangential acceleration forces, and subsequently it may lead to a further decrease of the maximum allowable speed of travel in order to prevent loss of vehicle control.
