Specifications for protective headgear for vehicular users.

Abstract

This standard specifies minimum performance and criteria and test methods for protective helmets designed to mitigate the adverse effects of a blow to the head by drivers and passengers of a surface vehicles. Eye and face protection are excluded. Requirements and the corresponding methods of test are given: 1) impact attenuation properties of the protective head gear, 2) penetration resistance, 3) strength of the retention system and its attachments.
