In the Netherlands, agricultural vehicles include both agricultural and forestry tractors, (hereafter called tractors), and self-propelled machinery used in farming, construction industry, development, civil engineering and the maintenance of public green spaces and gardens. Tractors are mainly used in rural areas, but also in urban areas as since 1995 tractors are permitted to use public roads for purposes other than agriculture. The group of self-propelled machinery – with the exception of trucks such as crane trucks – is included in the vehicle category ‘motor vehicle with limited speed’.
