On August 22, 2011 the Arizona Department of Transport released the 2010 Crash Facts Summary. The report revealed that although the total number of vehicle accidents in Arizona has declined. Although there was a decline it was very small, they reported motor vehicle crashes reached 106,177 (compared to 106,767 in 2009). The breakdown of these crashes include 698 fatal crashes (compared to 709 in 2009), 33,195 injury crashes (compared to 33,380 in 2009), and 72,284 property damage only (compared to 72,678 in 2009). In 2010, ADOT revealed that one person died every 11.50 hours or approximately 2.09 persons everyday and approximately 137.29 persons are injured due to motor vehicle crashes everyday. Meanwhile, they also revealed that the most common manner of crash and driver violation are rear-end and speeding, respectively.
