The overall objective of RANKERS is to develop new comprehensive, scientific — based and practical guidelines or recommendations for road infrastructure safety to enable optimal cost — effective decisions by road authorities in their efforts to promote sustainable safer roads and eradicate dangerous road sections. This report presents a brief summary of the 2nd RANKERS Workshop that was held on November 9th 2007 in Rome within the International Conference of Road Safety & Simulation 2007. This event brought the opportunity to disseminate the final results of the project to the most recognised experts on road infrastructure safety and human factors. The main objective of the RANKERS workshop within this conference was to present to the scientific community the main aspects and results of the project, having also the opportunity to gather opinions from experienced experts that could be taken into consideration into the final reports of the project. Approximately more than 80 people attended this workshop, where the following topics of the projects were presented: • The Road Safety Index. • The Catalogue of Recommendations. • The Human Factor experiments methodology and results. • The Infrastructure field tests on road infrastructure design characteristics influence on road safety.
