Facial injuries in car accidents are mainly caused by the windscreen, the dashboard, the steering wheel, the bonnet and all other protruding components of the car interior. The distance between the face and the components should be as far as possible. This means in detail (1) slanting, for forward located windscreens of luminated glass (2) a telescopic steering column (3) a steering wheel which deforms at low force (4) a bonnet which not penetrates in the car in a head on collision (5) a padded dashboard (6) no protruding instruments, and (7) the use of a three point safety belt.
