Samenvatting

The total study into the acceptation and behavioural effects of speed limiting systems for lorry drivers has two parts. In the first part interviews were held just after the system were installed and a few moths later to show the experiences and meanings of the drivers on the equipment used. In the second part the drivers were interviewed again after one year to analyse the long-term effects of speed limiting systems. More than 75% of the drivers are positive for the European obligation to introduce these systems for lorries, if the limited speed is 90 km/h. For the drivers with a positive meaning of the systems traffic safety will be enlarged, because the most extreme speeding will be countered. For the drivers who are against the introduction the main point is the longer time for overtaking and queueing of lorries.
