Due to improvements of frontal crashworthiness and due to the mandatory belt wearing in more and more countries the problems of side impact gain in priority in the field of occupant protection. The fundament for technical improvements are statistical data. Recent accident analyses are evaluated with regard to impact speed, injury patterns, biomechanics, and occupant protection.
