Samenvatting

The author considers the two main factors generally accepted when dealing with the over-involvement of young novice drivers in traffic accidents. The two factors, namely age, when considering risk-taking, and perception, and also inexperience of driving situations, are considered. The relative importance of either of the two factors, and methods of appropriate accident prevention, are examined. The respective influences of these two factors, and their interaction, are considered for France, the UK and the USA.
