Samenvatting

A 3-level modelling approach is employed for the accident prediction models of unsignalized and signalized intersections. Developments and applications of the accident models for both unsignalized and signalized intersections are shown. The models are developed on intersection characteristics of design, control, traffic flow and environments. Furthermore, based on the results of the models, the relative safety of unsignalized and signalized intersections is discussed, and comments are provided. All data used in this study are drawn from Traffic Accident Surveillance and Analysis System in California.
