Samenvatting

Cofiroute, a French highway concessionaire, and renault, a major auto maker, have developed in partnership and tested an in-vehicle information system using beacons and read-write transponders at 5.8 GHz. It is designed for electronic toll collection. This system, implemented on a section of the a10 highway, is the first application of a multi-application road to vehicle dsrc link (dedicated short range communication). The proposed services intend both to improve safety (emergency information on weather and traffic conditions), and to enhance drivers convenience (information on travel time and available services on highways). Details of the ADAMS system are provided. These include a brief description of both the systems architecture and the services offered. The latter includes real time driver information using variable message signs. Diagrams of the messages displayed are provided.
