Samenvatting

The theoretical and formal revival of the roundabout was followed by an extensive usage of this type of traffic junction. The renaissance of the roundabout as an alternative of traffic junctions has attributed to the renewal of junction building in several European countries in the previous decades. A similar tendency can be seen at the circle geometrical junctions controlled with traffic lights. The earlier built roundabouts that have become perils of accident or insufficient due to increased traffic have been equipped with traffic-controlling lights. These "forced" solutions have proved efficient, as traffic and control results have led to the realisation of the benefits of such control systems. It was assumed that this type of junction should be built where the geometrical layout should be appropriate to the control-technical features. The general plan of this new type of circle geometrical junctions controlled with traffic lights (ATCR) in contrast with the traditional roundabout can be designed freely with very few limitations. The special limitations are in the form of time signal plans. In contrast with the relatively simple time signal plans of crossing type junctions, the systems of the ATCR, mostly due to internal switches, are much more complicated and so far less discovered. There are no accurate functions available for the elaboration of the time signal plans. The programmes are produced in iterative ways or with other empirical approaches. This paper describes the new results in this topic, the programme parameters, the connections of the features of the traffic, geometry and vehicle movements. The objective of the examination was the achievement of an entirely traffic dependent controlling. The searched connections are aimed at these conditions. The operation of the traffic controlling algorithms elaborated in this way was tested using a micro-simulation model. For the covering abstract see ITRD E124693.
