Samenvatting

The paper attempts to analyze seat belt usage by children from an injury viewpoint. The analysis indicates older children use seat belts to the same extent as adults and that children under 11 use seat belts less frequently. The belt is seen to have a protective/restraining effect on the children but there is no indication that belted children are injured more often or more seriously than belted adults.
