In this paper a study for an advanced system for the traffic control on a motorway path is described. The focus is set on an experimental survey station, realised on a motorway side, near Cosenza and on a laboratory research developed in the University of Reggio Calabria. The first results obtained are presented, with a highlight on an original procedure of Automatic Image Processing which allows the design of vehicular trajectories on a road section and the computation of a large variety of traffic flow parameters.
