Samenvatting

This paper describes the evaluation of the thoracic assessment device developed for the advanced anthropomorphic test device and prototyped for the 50th percentile male dummy (TAD-50M) in a barrier crash test environment. The advanced thorax has been integrated with the Hybrid III head, neck, pelvis and upper and lower extremities. The test series consisted of four frontal barrier tests: two at 48 kph and two at 56 kph, with a driver sideairbag restraint system. and a driver and passenger 3-point seat belt restraint system. Data from the TAD-50M are presented in conjunction with the differences in response characteristics between the TAD-50M and the Hybrid III. (A)
