Samenvatting

The deficiencies of motor vehicle collision records have long been recognized as an obstacle to a complete understanding of the safety concerns at intersections. The Traffic Control Technique was developed to provide additional information which could mitigate the deficiencies of the collision records. This paper summarizes the latest research being conducted in the field of traffic conflicts. It includes an overview on the recent establishment of traffic conflict standards; and a description of a traffic conflict computer simulation model using real time proximity measures as a driver perceived measure of safety.
