Samenvatting

The authors of this paper are studying the possibility of employing carbon black (CB) to improve the performance of asphalt pavement. Many researchers have studied CB additives, and previous papers have empirically pointed out the functions of mechanical reinforcement or the effect on temperature susceptibility. Nevertheless, few studies have examined anti-aging performance and failure properties at low temperature, despite the fact that CB is extensively used as an anti-deterioration agent for various polymeric materials, such as rubber tires and wire covering. This paper outlines the anti-aging characteristics of CB for asphalt binders in addition to the reinforcing performance at both high and low temperatures.
