Samenvatting
This article discusses to what extent the airbag can contribute to reducing injuries as a result of a motorcycle accident. The article describes the research on motorcycle airbags, how they can reduce injuries, and describes crash tests. Tests of the TNO Road-Vehicles Research Institute on the usability of the motorcycle airbag and collision are described in detail. The results of these tests are mentioned. The article concludes that the airbag can play an important role in protecting the motorcyclist and the vehicle occupant, but that there is still a long way to go.
