Samenvatting

It is well known that the airport is a bottleneck in the Air Transportation System. In this paper the authors survey the main problem areas at the airport. Many of the problems occur due to poor information about the closest future. The interaction and communication between the actors are limited and the precision and predictability are poor. One way to get rid of these problems is to use CDM (Collaborative Decision Making), a concept aiming to make all actors to share their information about the flights and other airport activities with each other. Here the authors have used optimization and simulation tools to show how the airport delays can decrease, if the information is shared and utilized in an intelligent manner.
