The importance of alcohol as a major factor in car accidents is stressed. the author has to treat many cases of serious injury, and in up than 50% of these cases, alcohol levels were high. The legal blood-alcohol limit in Belgium is 1.5 pro mille which is unrealistically high. It should be half or even one third of that value.
