Samenvatting

Recent findings and issues in several areas of alcohol countermeasure research and application are reviewed. Total accidents decreased 9.7% and fatalities decreased 8.6% in Alcohol Safety Action Projects (ASAPs) as compared to non-ASAP areas when considering from 1970-1971. Other sections deal with laws and their enforcement, public education and mass media campaigns, rehabilitation, drinking pedestrians, instrumentation and the lognormal distribution controversy. Discussions are added.
