Samenvatting

This study examines the drinking habits of both young and old people in Israel. The study also investigates their efforts to reduce the risks inherent in driving after drinking. Another objective is to provide an initial estimate of the extent of driving under intoxication. The data have been collected in real time at: (1) entertainment spots by self-reporting and observation; and (2) at road checkpoints by testing the blood alcohol level among drivers. These features provide an extensive and reliable picture on alcohol drinking habits and driving. The study was carried out in the June-August 1993 period.
