In 1987 a survey was done into the use of alcohol by car drivers in the Netherlands. This was a follow up of the surveys done from 1970- 1983. From the results a decrease in the use of alcohol by car drivers is seen since 1983. In 1983 an average of 12% of car drivers in the weekend had a punishable b.a.c., while in 1987 this percentage was 8. The share of female car drivers, during weekends increased since 1983 from 3% to 24%.
