The Yugoslav regulations governing the use of alcohol in traffic are contained in the 1974 law which states that complete sobriety on the road are demanded of professional drivers. For all other drivers, including cyclists, the highest level of blood alcohol concentration tolerated is fixed at 0.5 promille. While these regulations are valid for all Yugoslavia, their application, including the specifications covering the method of taking blood samples, vary by the individual republics.
