Segregation of the various categories of vehicles play an important role in all purpose roads. In the Netherlands consideration should be given to a great number of cyclist and auto drivers as their presence may cause great difficulties at intersections and junctions. Quite often it is necessary to provide an extra phase for the slower traffic.
