Samenvatting

The plan is for the national highway network to be fully converted into motorways -with a total length of 3000 km. The extension of the Dutch national highway network takes place within a planning system which is described. Priorities have to be set under the MPP in order to make the most effective use of the 550 million guilders set aside by the government each year for this purpose. Since 1983 a new evaluation procedure has been used for setting priorities. Under this procedure priorities are determined in relation to projects already or about to get underway, and in relation to projects still requiring further study.
