Samenvatting

The simple comparison of fatality rates for belted and unbelted car occupants is likely to lead to an imperfect conclusion because of several factors which interact strongly with both of these. The disparity between restraint effectiveness estimates based on on simple statistical presentations of accident data has been apparent for some time. This analysis suggests that the case study method is closer to the truth.
