Samenvatting

Two experiments undertaken to examine the effectiveness of three basic sign sequences that could be used to ware motorists of work activities in the road ahead in a rural two-lane situation are reported. The principal findings were that the flasher augmented sign sequences were more effective in slowing motorists in advance of the work area and that the symbol sign sequences were at least as effective as the standard traffic control devices sequences is slowing the motorists.
