Samenvatting

A three month survey was carried out into the use of restraining devices by children involved in traffic accidents. Children under 14 years of age who were passengers in sedans, station wagons, panel vans and utilities were included in the study. No statistically significant reduction in injury was found to be related to the wearing of restraints. Although the wearing of restraints for children over 5 years of age is compulsory, restraint use was no higher for the over 5 years group than for under the 5 years group.
