Samenvatting

Analysis was conducted on the output from 3D MADYMO simulations obtained using a model of a six-month CRABI child dummy sitting in a frontal facing child restraint system (CRS). This work was a preliminary task in a project aimed at optimising the performance of a CRS in a frontal impact environment. The CRS modelled in the simulations had a top tether and a six-point harness. The parameters of the CRS such as harness mounting height, seat back angle, top tether mounting height, seat lap belt mounting position and belt properties were changed in the simulations. Injury severity indicators, such as HIC, chest 3MS, neck axial force and the peak values of both head and chest resultant accelerations, were analysed. An outline for a better design of CRS is suggested from the results. (a) For the covering entry of this conference, please see ITRD abstract no. E202275.
