Samenvatting

In the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, these two cities have long been recognized as having very different public policies in addition to numerous other differences. The research presented here evaluates the possible benefits of evaluating these two areas separately in the travel mode choice analysis. Described are preliminary non-home-base individual mode choice models in the form of multinomial logit function for the Dallas segment and the Fort Worth part of the region area to assist in further exploration of the different travel mode choice characteristics of the two areas. In general, comparison results indicate that separate mode choice models for the Dallas area and the Fort Worth area will provide better accuracy to serve each area's transportation planning and forecasting purposes.
