This study examines the factors affecting accidents involving taxis in Singapore. Demographic variables and attitude factors are considered in this study. From a survey questionnaire distributed to taxi drivers, 314 completed questionnaires were analysed and the findings reveal the following: (a) 41.6 percent of reported accidents took place between 1200 hours and 1600 hours with 69.2 percent of these accidents occurring between 1400 hours and 1500 hours; (b) 54.2 percent of the taxi drivers cited "other drivers' fault" as the reason for accident(s); weather conditions were given as the second most common reason (15.2 percent) as adverse weather conditions such as heavy rain tend to affect both the vision of the driver, and the road condition; and (c) experience, family size, and 'unreasonable driver' are significant factors in taxi drivers' accidents.
