The influence of the cost of batteries on the manufacturing costs of electric vehicles is discussed. Starting point of the discussion is the possibility to construct electric vehicles totally new, the so called purpose design. Electric vehicles of the nowadays generation are of the conversion type. Common models are modified for the installation of specific electric components.
