Samenvatting

This study was conducted in order to provide help for drivers who are apprehensive when merging into traffic on expressways. We conducted experiments to compare the merging behaviors of skilled and unskilled drivers. From the results of the experiment, it became clear that unskilled drivers showed less acceleration within a shorter distance when in the acceleration strip of expressways, thus blocking the acceleration of other cars. Our simple simulation indicated that there was a lot of pressure on unskilled drivers when merging. These results have helped us to come up with ideas to assist drivers who lack confidence when merging. (Author/publisher)
