Samenvatting

This paper provides an overview of an in-depth crash injury study that began recently in Australia. The methodology of the study is also described. The study is designed to provide data on outstanding issues in terms of vehicle design. It is also designed to monitor the effects of vehicle design legislation in Australia and also to reveal significant problems with safety developments. The study process involves a combination of in-depth clinical data obtained from participating hospitals together with vehicle engineering data that are obtained via an in-depth examination of the vehicle involved. Other factors are included in the study. For example, crash involvement factors and some highway design issues are also taken into account for each crash investigated. Some preliminary results are presented from the 41 cases that have been investigated to date. (Author/publisher) For the covering entry of this conference, please see ITRD abstract no. E202589.
