Samenvatting

This paper describes the determination of individual Widmark factors using a body fat analyser (TBF-305) manufactured by Tanita. The methodology used is explained. The results showed clear sex specific differences in weight, fat weight, lean body mass and total body water. The Widmark factor `r' and BECs calculated were found to vary according to the calculation method used. It is suggested that the values frequently used (0.6 for women and 0.7 for men) are both too low.
