Samenvatting

Nondestructive testing (NDT) technology has made substantial progress in the past decades. Currently, four NDT devices, the Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD), the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), the Seismic Pavement Analyzer (SPA), and the Portable Seismic Property Analyzer (PSPA), are available to highway agencies for collecting field data. Each of these technologies has strengths and weaknesses. However, when combined, they can provide a wealth of information not available when one method is used alone. One means of combining the data from different methods falls under data fusion technique. Data fusion can be used to integrate the results from different devices in a synergistic way by utilizing the strengths of each methodwhile minimizing the weaknesses. Data fusion allows for logical combining and filtering of information to obtain a composite value as a basis for decision making. In this paper, data fusion using fuzzy logic is presented. The methodology and a case study are presented comparing the results using fuzzy logic with results of the individual NDT devices.
