Samenvatting

This paper was presented at the `Advanced Materials' session. This paper presents the results of field and laboratory studies carried out by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) to evaluate the properties of High Performance Concrete (HPC), concentrating on properties contributing to durability. Construction procedures are described, and areas of concern (such as curing, compaction and deck finishing) are identified. Initiation of a service life modelling study, aimed at estimating potential service life increases due to the use of HPC, is also described. Data obtained from these studies will assist MTO in evaluating the performance and durability of HPC, and in developing improved specifications for the Province's future use of HPC. (A)
