Police enforcement represents an important instrument in the stimulation of safe behaviour. Police enforcement has a bearing on how road users evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of behaviour. The effects of police enforcement on behaviour are mainly determined by the perceived risk of detection. However, there are also other means by which to exert pressure on the individual: both through the social environment and by making the desired behaviour more attractive. (A)
