Samenvatting

A major work area of the Advanced Road Transport Telematics research programme DRIVE 2, which is part-funded by the European Commission, covers the introduction of advanced Travel and Traffic Information (TTI) services within Europe. A key aim of this work area has been to establish the foundations for wider accessibility and user acceptance of TTI products and services. This report considers the tasks undertaken by the projects in this work area, and summarises their output. It also considers the extent to which common approaches have been necessary to address common concerns. The results of the projects include Common Functional Specifications (CFS), pre-standards, codes of practice and numerous other transferable elements. Projects have assessed the technical feasibility, market demand and potential benefits of many TTI applications which are based on available technology. The resulting reports are expected to produce guidance which will promote the wider introduction of Travel and Traffic Information products and services in Europe. (A)
