The "area information providing system by FM teletext broadcasting" provides information for living and tourism closely related to specific local areas by FM teletext broadcasting. This system receives information from a variety of information sources, edits/processes the received information, creates the information to be provided and transmits the created information by FM teletext broadcasting. For example, a system to display the bus operation condition on a display installed at a bus stop, the system receives the current position information of buses running in an area according to specified timing, creates guidance information such as current position of a bus, waiting time until arrival and estimated time required for traveling to a particular destination, sends the contents by means FM teletext broadcasting, receives them by a receiver installed at a bus stop and displays characters on the display. The system consists of a bus guidance information center (bus position control, guidance information broadcasting facility), bus stops (receivers, displays) and buses (vehicle mounted devices).
